Swine Flu(H1N1 Flu):
Technically the term swine flu refers to influenza in pigs
, from where it can be transferred to humans, the virus is airborne.The virus
responsible for this disease is H1N1, which was first discovered in spring 2009.In
August 2010 the infection was declared as global pandemic by World Health
Organization.
Causes:
Influenza virus infects the cells lining your nose, throat
and lungs . Virus enters body when you inhale
in infected premises or it can transfer from a contaminated surface to your
eyes, nose or mouth.
You don’t catch swine flu from eating pork.
Swine Flu Symptoms:
Swine Flu Symptoms in humans are same as an ordinary flu
like fever , cough , sore throat, runny nose, bodyache , headache . Swine flu
symptoms develop one to three days after you are exposed to the virus .
Risk Factors:
You are at risk if you travel to places crowded with people,
infected from H1N1.
Precautions:
1. Stay away from
crowded places.
2. Maintain
reasonable distance from people in public places.
3. If possible
wear clinical masks in high density areas.
4. Do not touch
public handle, they are a store house of such infections.
5. Carry hand
sanitiser with you , use it frequently.
When to see a doctor:
Swine flu is a deadly disease but can be treated through
proper medication.Drugs are more effective if you start taking the medicines
within two to three days of catching the infection.
