Shocking death

Russian Politician Boris Nemtsov  shot dead

Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov shot dead on Friday night on a bridge in central Moscow visibly closer to Kremlin, a historic fortified complex at the heart of Moscow.

Boris Yefimovich Nemtsov was a Russian statesman and liberal politician. He served as deputy priminister in the late 1990’s under president Boris Yeltsin, and after 2000 he became a vocal opponent and critic of President Vladimir Putin.

Most recently Nemtsov has been very critical of Kremlin’s handling of Ukraine Criris. A large opposition rally was set to take place in two days, for which he already had done a radio interview putting out the call  to people, to join the rally on Sunday.

But before this could happen Nemtsov was shot dead on busy Friday Night at a Bridge within the sight of St. Basil’s Cathedral and the Kremlin.

World chess champion-turned opposition activist Garry Kasparov tweeted extensively about Namtsov’s death “When we argued, Boris would tell me I was too hasty. That in Russia you have to live a long time to see change. Now he’ll never see it.RIP”.

U.S. President Barack Obama  called for an impartial investigation and praised the deceased leader. He said, “Nemtsov was a tireless advocate for his country , seeking for his fellow Russian citizens the rights to which all peole are entitled”.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko tweeted , “ It is hard to believe that Nemtsov was killed. I have no doubt that the murderer’s will be brought to justice sooner or later.Rest in  peace.

Its something even Nemtsov himself has said that he had thought  about , acknowledging in an interview with Russian newspaper Sobesednik this month that he was “a little bit “ afraid his mother’s fears Putin would have him killed would come true.

But he added . “ I am not afraid of him that much . If I was afraid I would’t be heading  an opposition party and do what i am doing.

Nemtsov will be remembered for his iconoclastic deeds and will be an icon of fierce criticism .RIP
